Subsonic web page only partially loads

Postby drdave » Mon Jan 03, 2011 7:01 pm

Hi everyone. My Subsonic server (4.2) has been working great since installing it a few months ago. Love using Z-Subsonic on my iphone. However, since upgrading to the new 4.3 beta version, the Subsonic web page only partially loads, and stops; I'm on an iMac running OSX 10.6.5 and Firefox. As the page (top, part of bottom for player) partially loads, Firefox reports at the bottom left "Reading l.longtailvideo.com" as if attempting to access that web page, then stops loading. Doesn't load my library which used to show up on the left side of the page. Unable to access any settings either, as if port 4040 is no longer accessible at that point. Downgrading back to the stable 4.2 didn't help. Also noted a Java memory issue. Looking for suggestions, can enclose logs.

Did you reinput the port number in the Subsonic Control Panel? When you upgrade, Subsonic changed to port 80 by default and needs to be reentered to the port number your previous install was using.

Thanks, Gary. Yes, the port # is changed to 4040 and is accessible (checked with CanYouSeeMe.org). I tweaked playlist.jsp and now it's working again! I found another thread with a modifed playlist.jsp, so I guess that works. When I log in it still accesses the site "plugins.longtailvideo.com" but it's working at any rate. Thanks for your input, and I'll keep my fingers crossed that it continues to work.

Whats the solution?

Postby 3R3 » Wed Jan 12, 2011 4:24 pm

I have the same problem after going from 3.9 to 4.3 (gonna remember not to upgrade without need next time...).

When the web interface begins to hang like described above, seemingly loading something from xxx.longtail.com (something for jwplayer i presume) the cpu load goes way up (80%+) and memory fills up fast until it crashes.
In the log it throws a "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded".
Despite the fact that it ran fine with 512MB before, now i set it to 768 and it still crashes.

Can you post your mod to the playlist.jsp? Maybe it works for me too.

I am running into the same problem you had, drdave.

Any directions on a mod I can do to playlist.jsp to fix this would be much appreciated. Thanks!
