SS on Ubuntu still having stall problems

Postby zombie » Tue Jan 25, 2011 3:52 am

HI I have been trying to figure this problem out for weeks. I got SS all set up and it runs and starts to stream audio to my Android but after a few seconds the 3G icon indicates that it isn't downloading anymore and of course the song stops. its so frustrating. I love the Os Ubuntu but when I had Windows running SS I never had any problems.... Any ideas??? I am running SS 4.4 beta1 with 12mbs up and 5 down. (so I know its not my connection at home) I set up the port forwarding manually, and its connecting to SS so I cant imagine the problems their. I have a droid 1 running C.M mod 6.1.2 (also was running this ROM when I had SS on Windows with no problem).

P.S. I have a couple other apps that are forward to my pc.. One of them is Torrent-FU and I noticed whenever my Subsonic is stalling if I send a torrent to the home computer Subsonic will start streaming smooth again. Almost like my connection falls asleep or Subsonic isn't noticed by Ubuntu.

You first need to determine if the problem is on the phone or the server. In some instances it can be both, but even if that's true, you still need to fix one before dealing with the other.

Does your phone work properly with the demo server?

It can be anything, including Java. I'm a Windows guy, but there are many good Linix users that will help you. I've found that most issues with SS come from not following the installation instructions carefully. On Windows, it's a breeze to just uninstall/reinstall Java and SS. If you can do that without too much pain, it's probably the easiest way to go. just be sure to read through the Tutorial section for your OS install, and follow

If that's too much hassle, pm Alphawave7 or kermit22 for their ideas.
