Erik,

Consider dropping back to ver. 4.1 as a possible fix. It may work better with your Java version. I found 4.1 to be very stable and never had any problems.

Just a possibility.

Well- I did this: Since I haven't used my Cisco tool in awhile, I went ahead and updated my java to the latest version (1.6.0_23-b05). I am still having the same problem- My max memory is set to 200, and I just checked the memory usage: 166MB. Still appears to be a memory leak, albeit one I think I can live with until it is corrected.

Many thanks,

Erik

I also have this issue. Also since I upgraded Subsonic (to 4.2 beta1), earlier I never had it.

Info:
Windows 7 x64
Not sure what my Java version is/was, but I see that it updated monthly, so it can't be very outdated.
Memory limit was left at the default 100MB (now at 250MB).
No router, no firewall, no virus software actively doing anything.

I don't use Subsonic daily, so I can guess only very roughly, but it seemed to happen every 2-4 days.

I just reverted to 4.1. I'll see how it goes, and if will start reverting to earlier versions until it stops. I also created a support ticket on the sourceforge site, pointing to this thread.

4.1 stayed up less than a day.

I'm reverting to 4.0.

I am having the same issue since updating to the newest version. I can get the service to stay up for 1-2 days before I have to reboot. I have a very large collection on a dedicated server with 6tb (About 500,000 songs). I have loved subsonic because it could handle the collection size with no issues. I have the memory size set at 1,000 and have never had any issues until this last upgrade?

Were you at 4.1, or earlier? How long did you have it running before your >last< upgrade?

Just to keep my SS from crashing(4.3 beta1, ubuntu 9.10) i had to amp my memory up to 2GB. Without this ss would crash after logging in.
51,290 artists
30,341 albums
307,179 songs
2614.00 GB (~ 40,607 hours)
Im not sure if with a new upgrade the config file will be rewritten but it is something to keep in mind.

4.0 stayed up for five days - longer than any time since this problem occured - when a power outage shut down the server. So, the count starts again.

Moving back to 4.0 seems to have done the trick.

This happens to me periodically as well - running fine, then the service crashes (and I get an error message) and I've got my memory set to 1000 in the control panel!

Here's the message in the Event Log:
Faulting application subsonic-service.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module java.dll, version 6.0.230.5, fault address 0x00004e2f.

Is the problem with Java? It seems to have happened with older versions of Java as well.

Which version?

This is different to what I have been experiencing: I get no error message - the server just stops. The tray icon may or may not be red.

In any case, reverting to 4.0 resolved the problem, so wherever the fundamental problem lies, the issue I am experiencing is introduced in 4.1.

Happy to report that 4.3 seems to have resolved this issue for me!

Maybe Subsonic is kind of like Star Trek movies, except that you want to stick to the odd numbered ones. :)

Seems I spoke too soon. It's crashed again. At least this time it stayed up for weeks, rather than days.

I guess I'm stuck on 4.0 unless this is addressed. Which, I might add, is an amazing program, now I am not rebooting the server once a day.
