Android Client audio restarting

Postby pcs800 » Fri Jan 28, 2011 6:43 pm

Ok I was taking part in another thread about this but they seem to have switched over to video and some motorola camcorder subject.

I do not have a bandwidth issue here, the songs download fine on both my droid and computers/web interface.
My subsonic server is on a 20meg line, plenty fast.

The issue I have makes subsonic useless on my android phone (HTC Hero).
Keep in mind this is audio only, I am not streaming video.

Lets say I pick a song to listen to, it starts downloading and a second later starts playing, but stops and restarts from the beginning. Does this over and over even if I had chosen multiple songs and the first is playing and fully downloaded and the second is downloading, the first will still stop and start over multiple times.

This did not happen the first few version of the android app I had installed. It is a fairly recent issue.

Could it have something to do with other audio players I have installed? I have PowerAmp installed as well.

It's possible. But you should check performance on other servers just to be sure it's a phone issue and not the server. Feel free to test on my public server.

Also when you say you have a 20meg line, is that both up and down? For streaming, it's really only the upload speed from the server to the phone that's the important factor.

You might also check to see how full your sd card is.

Yes it's 20meg both directions.

SD card is 56% full

Tried your server, same issue.

Here is my server if you want to see if it works ok for you

I just uninstalled the app from the phone, deleted the music directory from the card, reinstalled and get the same thing.

Just for fun, and it might help besides, try removing Subsonic from the phone, remove battery, reboot and reinstall Subsonic. I've seen it work before, maybe we can get lucky again.

I shut the phone off every night, so it gets rebooted all the time.
Reinstalled app a few minutes ago.
Shutting down, remove battery starting back up now....

Ok, I uninstalled, rebooted phone. Downloaded subsonic android app version 1.2 from 2010-02-09 and it works fine.
There is something with the newer builds that doesn't like my phone.

Just installed 1.9 and it works fine too. That's as far as I am going for now, it works and I see no reason to update until this gets fixed. Thanks for your help.
