Service unavailable error from localhost

Moved computer to another location(different ISP) and reinstalled Subsonic, now Im getting 'Service Unavailable' error from http://localhost/.

Is the service down, or am I missing something? I don't remember having any problems the first time I installed the program.

Yeah, different router. Other ISP was unreliable. Shouldn't you be able to open your browser to subsonic local host no matter what?

This is what I got when I right clicked on the sys tray Subsonic icon to open Subsonic in a browser to set it up. I had my port set to 2000 and I tried disabling Windows Firewall.

Never use port 80 - ISP's often use it or block it. 8080,8081, work fine.

In Subsonic Settings/Network - UNCHECK " Automatically configure your router to allow incoming connections to Subsonic (using UPnP or NAT-PMP port forwarding)." make sure to hit the SAVE button, you may have to scroll down to see it depending on your screen size. UPnP or Plug & Pray works sometimes, but not very often and you're better off learning what's going on anyway. You're dipping your toe into the network mgmt. thing anyway, might as well learn what's going on as home networks don't get simpler as time goes on. As your network gets more complex, you're going to have to learn this stuff! No time like the present.

Manually assign a fixed intenal IP and static route to your server at the upper end of the address range of the router, out of the way of DHCP, e.g. 192.168.1.254

Set up your router manually. uPNP might work, but most often it doesn't. Learing how to do it will be a skill you'll love having as your network grows.

Check the Subsonic Control Panel to make sure it's using the right port you're going to use. I typically use 8080, 8081, etc.

Set up port forwarding in your router to direct traffic on the selected port to your server.

Learn your external IP address assigned by your ISP.

Test your setup by entering your external IP:port# to see if it connects. e.g. http://98.117.185.5:8084/ If it works, you're good to go.

See, thats the problem, Iam using port 2000, and I cannot get to the subsonic setup screen, when I try to go to http://localhost/ or since I changed ports, http://localhost/2000, the error I posted comes up. I cannot get to the browser screen. The systray icon is green, and everything appears alright, but I cannot go to the browser to set anything up. And, at the same time while this problem occurs, I have no problem browsing, down/uploading, or using FTP from the same computer.

Im stumped. Im about ready to switch to something else...

So - you're telling me that you read through all the information I gave you, but you still don't know how to get to the Subsonic Control Panel?

Hint: You don't get to it through a browser.

You open the browser to get to the above step, right? By right clicking on the Subsonic icon? Thats what Im getting from the directions. The option you are describing is not in the control panel.

I wasn't having problems till I upgraded to the newer version, maybe I'll just go back to the older version...

I'm pretty sure you have a very minor glitch that should be easy to fix. Have you right clicked on the tray icon and selected "Open Subsonic in Browser?"

Yeap, exactly. And the error messege I posted earlier is what Im getting. The Subsonic tray icon is green, and thats what is so baffling. I think I will try rolling back to a earlier version to see what happens...

Tried 4.4beta, 4.3, and 4.2. all the same. Other than moving to computer from one place to another, I haven't changed anything. I don't think the computer has even updated since, and now nothing works. Only thing that happens, is the control panel starts, and is green. Shows using some memory, but thats it. Are there problems with Windows 7 maybe?

Yeap, and the error I listed before comes up on the browser that opens.

I just installed Subsonic on another computer with no problems. I think it is some setting on my computer that Im not aware of. The machine that it worked on was Vista, the machine that is not working is Windows 7.
