Last.fm Scrobbles Random Duplicate Tracks

Greetings... I just set up Subsonic today, and I'm loving it! It's simple and it just plain works, plus (and this is a big bonus for me) it has Last.fm compatibility. However, I am running into an odd issue where it is randomly rescrobbling tracks that I've already listened to multiple times at random intervals. Sometimes it shows the same track twice in a row, sometimes it shows something that I listened to a couple of hours ago.

I've also noticed that the play count for each album seems to be fluctuating... I noticed an album with 12 tracks showing 38 plays (while I was still midway through it), then later showing 24. Kind of weird.

I've looked over all the settings and have searched the forum and can't really find anything that seems to be applicable. Any ideas? I've attached a sample log below (where I was listening to a specific album by Greenleaf straight through so that the duplicate tracks and previously listened tracks are easily distinguishable). An interesting update to this... I noticed my Last.fm account showed a number of additional plays throughout the night at random intervals, even though I wasn't logged in at any point. (I first logged in a little after 3:00 PM today, so here's part of the log prior to that.)

It bothers me that no one seems to have looked into this, but this is still an ongoing issue for me. Scrobbling is inconsistent, with songs "playing" multiple times or not at all, even when I'm not logged in. It also seems to constantly scrobble tracks that I listened to previously, usually within the last couple of hours. The "Now Playing" widget dealie on the side changes regularly during a song, which seems to reflect the tracks being scrobbled, and seems to be operating independently of what I'm actually listening to. It seems to be an issue with the player spazzing out and not realizing what's currently playing, although it never actually seems to affect playback.

At this point I've started looking for alternatives to Subsonic that will be more reliable. I have an additional issue where occasionally a song will play partially, cut off, and then stop playing altogether. If I try to play the song a second time, it plays the first second, the preloading bar shoots across, then the playback stops suddenly. Occasionally I can resolve this by cloning my player and loading the song there, or by restarting the service on my home PC, but that's kind of an annoyance.

HELP. I love Subsonic most of the time, and I haven't yet been able to find an alternative that works as well, but it's frustrating and annoying.

Increase your memory limit to say 256MB and try SS 4.6 which if nothing else appears to give a lot more info in the log.

Hmm! I notice you are using port 80. I wonder if that is causing the problem.
There could be a conflict there - try using another port for SS eg 8080
You should only get the 2 lines per track

Yep... 256. Checked a couple of times to make sure the change took.

Also, I have switched to port 8080 and forwarded that, so let's see if that makes a difference.

Ok it must be down to the port then.
Port 80 is really a bad idea for SS because its the standard http port and will used by any standard process on the host machine that wants to talk to the world!
eg windows update, your weather bug, clock sync etc. etc.
SS really wants (needs) to be on its own dedicated port (like a kid with ice cream -doesn't like sharing )

Well, thus far it seems to be working the way it's supposed to. Granted, I've only listened to three songs (I need to stop listening to bands that make ten minute songs when troubleshooting), but you are a genius and have my undying thanks. I'll keep an eye on this for a while and then mark this bad boy SOLVED.

Alright, the frequency of the duplicates has slowed down, but it is still submitting duplicate scrobbles. Any further ideas?
