Cannot connect to subsonic webpage for setup

Postby cfalzone » Sun Feb 06, 2011 5:17 am

Hi all,

I just installed an alternative install of Ubuntu 10.10 with just X and openbox and the latest java package from Oracle. Anyhow, I tried installing Subsonic on a regular desktop install of Ubuntu 10.10 and it did work, but with my minimal install I cannot get to the localhost page after installing Subsonic.

Am I missing some package that the desktop edition of Ubuntu has? This isn't included in the installation instructions and I'm a web n00b. Do I need a LAMP server or something? I have apache2 installed and I can navigate to localhost (127.0.0.1) but I just can't get to the page that the documentation asks for on the Subsonic page (http://localhost:4040/)

This is sort of late... prying through my system for awhile I found out that I just had to set up apache and some other server-related packages. They should probably be listed in the documentation, especially for those who choose to use the standalone server.
