The switch to Google Image Search for cover art seems to be a positive step. All we need is to combine batch download with it and we'll be great!

(Well we already are great--even better that is!)

I would love to see this feature implemented.

CoverLovin - Cover Art Downloader

Postby amorphic » Thu Feb 10, 2011 1:19 pm

Just in case anybody comes across this thread looking for a way to mass-download cover art...

I've just released v1.01 of CoverLovin, an open source tool that recursively traverses a directory structure and downloads cover art from Google Images based on id3 tags of the mp3 files in each directory.

https://launchpad.net/coverlovin

Hopefully it'll be as useful to others who have large music libraries that need covers. It sure makes using subsonic a lot prettier...;-)

amorphic thanks for such an easy way to update cover art. I have a question because I'm a noob to Python. I'm running Windows 7. How would I use this script on my library?

I have about 41,000+ songs right now and will eventually have all of them loaded into Subsonic. They'll total around 200k when I'm finished. So far, at 41k Subsonic is rocking. The new random server feature is the shizznit.

Looks very useful, but does it really only handle mp3's? I have a large FLAC library.
