WMA radio streaming via SubSonic possible?

Postby AcidWarrior » Thu Feb 03, 2011 7:19 pm

Hi folks,
first of all I´d like to thank the author for this incredible nice peace of software. You did a pretty awesome job.

Getting to my question:
Is it possible to stream / transcode an .wma radio stream via SubSonic to be able to listen to it on my HTC HD running on Android 2.2 (Froyo)? I tried to set up the radio station in the preferences as an INTERNET TV / radio, but unfortunately it won´t play as expected.

I entered the following local radio station URL in the Stream URL field:
http://edge.live.msmedia.mdn.newmedia.n ... stream.wma

and entered a station name. It will appear in the Internet TV / radio section, but when clicking on the |> play button, all it does is asking me for an application to open it with. It then will play in VLC oder Windows Media Player, but I´m not able to stream it to get it working on my HTC HD mobile. All other music files from my PC are streaming as expected.

Is Subsonic "only" able to transcode locally stored .wma files or is it also possible to transcode such a .wma stream as mentioned above.

Best regards,
Christian

Use Chrome for your browser. I just tested it and it worked. I just pasted your link into the Stream URL box.

I put the link into the first listed website below. It is the last one listed under Internet TV/Radio as "Edge"

I also just tested it in IE and it opened WMP and played fine.

Thx GJ51 for your fast answer, but I think I wasn´t quite clear in explaining my problem.

Adding the radio station in Internet TV/radio wasn´t a problem. It wasn´t also a problem to play the stream in the webinterface using Mozilla Firefox either. Haven´t tried Chrome or IE but I guess it will work the same way. What I wanted to achieve was to play the Internet TV/radio stream with the free Android APP "Subsonic". I´m only able to stream my music collection, but there seems to be no way to stream the Internet TV/ radio streams on my mobile.

Maybe I don´t have a "full streaming service" because I haven´t entered the registration server key yet. I´ve already donated, but I´m currently waiting for the appropriate key.

FFmpeg man...

With FFmpeg also you see pictures from your web-camera and etc. Read manual and google for examples...

If you just want an easy way to get radio on your Android, just try TuneIn Radio app. Access 40,000 stations worldwide. May be a lot easier than getting the stream through SS.

Thx for your infos so far, but I already tried to use TuneIn. Actually, the radio station is linked in it, but won´t play this station ^^. Due to "The station is not available". Anyways, I alreay informed TuneIn about it without an answer so far. Luckily I found Subsonic and appreciate this service very much.

I use XiiaLive for streaming radio. Not sure if it will work with wma streams though.
