Can't reach Settings

Postby toif » Fri Feb 11, 2011 9:41 pm

Hi,

I installed subsonic 4.4 to my 64bit Windows 7 PC. Now I can reach to the web page on http://localhost but when I try to open Settings, it gives the below error and can't proceed. I couldn't even change the admin password.

Access denied
Sorry, you are not authorized to perform the requested operation.

The service is running and there are no errors in Control Panel. What could be the problem?

Thanks.

Are you using an admin log on?

Yes. It's the first time I login, so I used admin/admin. I can reach the main screen and all other options except the Settings.

Not much to lose then. just delete the SS subdirectory and reinstall.

Tried but didn't work. I removed c:\subsonic and uninstall then reinstall but same error appears when I try to open settings.
Thanks for your help.. any other suggestion?

Hmmm.... that's a bit strange. Try it again, but this time, make sure you stop the Subsonic service before you uninstall SS and delete the directory. Uninstall Java, reboot, check to be sure the SS service isn't runiing, if it is stop it. Then install latest version of Java then latest version of SS. When you install SS be sure to right click on the installer and run as admin.

still same :(
I stop the service, uninstalled java and ss and restarted. Then I installed latest Java (Version 6 Update 23) and installed the SS as administrator.
Main screen is ok as usual but when I try to enter settings, I got the same error message as before.

Try changing the SS log on settings as descibed in http://monroeworld.com/android/subsonic/

Change log on to a server admin account to see if this allows access. I've got 3 Win 7/Server 08 sites running with no installation issues. Did you run the SS setup "as admin" to do the install? Is SS installed on the C: drive? Is the computer you're installing on otherwise stable?

You also should have stopped the SS service before doing the SS reinstall. That may still be worth trying, i.e. just stopping the ss service and doing another reinstall. I've done many many SS installs on Windows and have never seen this happen. Please provide as many details as yo can regarding your setup no matter how insignificant it may seem to you. When you log on to SS does it say "admin" to the right of the search box? When you click on settings, does anything happen besides the error msg? Do you get any other menu to appear?

I follow the instructions on Shane's page. I even enabled the administrator account of Windows7 and use this account on the subsonic service. I installed subsonic with administrator account and yes I see "log out admin" on the right corner. But still no chance to enter settings..
I can see all menu items and I can enter all of them except settings.

I think this might be related with Java, not SS.

Hi,
I found a solution hope it helps you too
first, backup the file from C:\subsonic\jetty\2385\webapp\WEB-INF\applicationContext-security.xml
then change all the ROLE_* values into IS_AUTHENTICATED_ANONYMOUSLY in this file
restart service
after these steps you can change your password, if you want you may take back your security settings from backup file
cheers
