Subsonic not loading - service seems to run fine

My subsonic service becomes unresponsive after a while. The browser will eventually time out.
However, when I check on the two dependent services on my CentOS 5.5 I get the following response:

[root@storix ~]# service subsonic status
subsonic (pid  16633) is running...
[root@storix ~]# service httpd status
httpd (pid  16597) is running...

In the end I have to restart the service. I don't know why it becomes unresponsive.
Is there some way to get an accurate status? I could run a cron job that will just restart it when it turns out that it is not running properly.

You could check out subsonic.log or subsonic_sh.log for a standalone install. What version and type of install do you use?
