Mp3 V0 won't play in jukebox mode

I am running Subsonic 4.4 on a Ubuntu 10.04 machine, and have this problem with jukebox mode: some (not all) mp3 v0 files are silent. They seem to play in the jukebox player, but there is no sound. If I switch to web player on the Subsonic server they work just fine, so it is obviously a problem directly related to the jukebox mode. I have searched the forum and the Internet, but found nothing that helps. This also happened when I ran 4.3.
