NAS music folder to play in subsonic on ClearOS (non-windows

Postby Fastbob » Fri Feb 18, 2011 7:12 pm

Hi y'all,

I set up subsonic. Works fine now.
I only need to point to the directory on my NAs for the music content.
My server is ClearOS.
The UNC is not working yet.

I have tried subsonic on a windows server and that UNC works flawlesly on that machine.

This is the UNC:
\\FASTBOB_NAS\Volume_1\Media\Music

What am I doing wong?

I'm not familiar with your OS, but on Windows in order to access network shares you have to give the Subsonic service log on permission for the share you're trying to access. I would guess that you have a similar issue with your OS and that SS needs to be granted access rights to the share you're trying to reach.

Hi GJ51,

I think you are right but my windows server asked nothing to gain access. This worked instantly. Hm perhaps this has to do with the fact that I used this server for filling my folders with media so it has already access...... OK that is correct.

Now where should I control this access to the NAS. What file is to be modified?

Hi djsubsonic,

Yes the test directory (on my actual ClearOS server) can be found but I want to connect to my NAS. Physically another machine in my own network. Under windwos this is done very simple but under Linux...... I am lost.

Could you use NFS? thats the linux version of SMB i'm right.
I Don't use Linux or cent os so i don't know.
But way use cent os?
I have VMWARE ESX Running with Server 2003 2008 and Clients.
And i have some nas storage in my netword (Synology) and my work computer uses NFS sharing Hane Win NFS server.

And that works great.

Succes,, DM voor vragen of info misschien dat we er uit kunnen komen.
