Having problem with Subsonic not playing my music. The connection is good ( I test the connection in Settings and it says everything is OK); I have checked port forwarding and my firewalls, those aren't the problem. When I try to play music on my phone (HTC EVO), I can access the directories and queue the music, it just won't download and play. Try to play music on desktop server, and I can, again, access directories but can't play music. Also, possibly related or not, I can no longer access settings on the server; I have lost administrator rights to my own account.

Hi.
What version are you running (pc/MAC/.......)
What does your log say? (find it under ABOUT)
The log should state some kind of error.
If you post this info, we are maybe able to point you in the right direction.

I would suggest uninstalling subsonic, deleting the FOLDERS it creates so on x64 windows 7 it's C:\subsonic and C:\program files(x86)\subsonic, then reinstall and it should fix your admin rights etc.

Though with more info you may not have to resort to that

went ahead and did the uninstall/reinstall. Now I get an error 404 message when I try to access localhost. Maybe I need to restart my pc; I'll do that later this morning and post the results.

Seems like you got a permission problem.

did a search for "error 404", this is part of what I got:

The 404 or Not Found error message is a HTTP standard response code indicating that the client was able to communicate with the server, but the server could not find what was requested. 404 errors should not be confused with "server not found" or similar errors, in which a connection to the destination server could not be made at all. A 404 error indicates that the requested resource may be available again in the future.

This sounds like it is an error on the subsonic server. How can I contact Sindre or someone else for tech support? Or does anyone else have any more ideas?

BTW, restarting my pc didn't help and I've been looking through the reference materials listed above but haven't found anything that helps, so far.

404 error sounds like the reinstall (obviously) reverted your SS port back to default 80. If all fails you can try to reinstall again, but this time as admin. If that goes through and works, you know you had a permissions problem. Then we can further narrow down the problem.

Problem seems to be solved; can log in and play music on web player, haven't tested mobile app yet. Don't understand why I had to 'Run as Administrator', though; the account I sign in on is an administrator account. Shouldn't everything I run have administrator permissions?

Mobile app works, too. Case closed.

and special thanks to 3R3 for the suggestion to 'Run as Administrator'. Still don't know why I had to do that, but it seems to be what fixed the problem.

Thats strange actually. Sure it works now, but you might want to drill deeper to be able to run it as a non-admin user for security's sake. Have you looked at permissions of every folder subsonic uses? I'm on linux but I think I remember them being c:\subsonic and c:\programm files\subsonic (just do a search to be sure)

They should all be owned by the user trying to run subsonic and have read/write permissions. Same goes for any music/video folders. Check that and try it again as non admin if you want.
