"Show what others are playing" module broken?

Postby jensonc » Mon Mar 21, 2011 7:23 pm

Problem Description: Sometime over the weekend, it appears the "show what others are playing" module has broken. When I have this option checked, upon logging into web-GUI, it will throw an error that just simply says "Error". Nothing in the error log.

Troubleshooting Steps: Uncheck the setting in Settings > Personal: "Show what others are playing" and then save settings. When the web-GUI reloads, there is no error. Then I go back and check "Show what others are playing", save, and when the GUI reloads I get an error.

Subsonic Version: 4.4 (build 2169) – February 6, 2011

Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_18, Linux (77.5 MB / 97.9 MB) on Debian

Speaking of the error log, I have went into our file system and verified that there is NO John Legend folder in MUSIC. Yet something appears to be enumerating it from somewhere. We have created a folder called John Legend/Evolver, yet the errors persist. Any ideas on either of our 2 issues? Thanks much.

I get the same error with the "now playing" tab. after login I either have it working or it throws the "error" error right away and the "now playing" tab stays empty except for the chat input and log lines.

Never thought of changing the setting to and fro, I restartet the server and sometimes that worked. Same behaviour on FF4beta and FF 3.6. Using SS 4.4 too, ubuntu karmic, java 1.6

Update

We restarted the subsonic service after applying an SSL cert to the website, and that appeared to get the Now Playing module working again. So, appears to be a simple enough work-around for now to not warrant anymore troubleshooting.

Keep up the good work, this is such an amazing piece of software!!!!

Could you post instructions for that? And do I need SSL enabled for this? I have trouble setting that up for ubuntu 10.4 SS standalone 4.4.

What exactly did you do as a workaround?

yes exactly the problem I am having at the moment and must be related to a recent change of folder name in the directory. My log files are now just full of these errors so will need to restart the server when it come free as that seems to be the only way to solve it.
