Streaming when home PC is turned off

Postby nestacres » Wed Mar 23, 2011 12:47 pm

Hi. I downloaded subsonic yesterday, set it up as per instructions and downloaded app onto HTC Desire. Am I right in saying when my home PC (with all the music) is turned on, subsonic will work fine (it worked over wifi and 3g) but as soon as I turn my PC off, It won't work?

Thi sseems to be whats happening and just wanted to be sure I haven't done anything wrong!

Yes, that is correct. When your home machine is on it is the server that hosts your music. When it is off, your mobile client will be unable to get more music.

That is not to say that you cannot listen to music at all, because the Android Client caches songs that you have listened to before (or that you have told it to cache) and you can listen to those songs no matter if your home machine is on or not. But that is an entirely different situation...
