Upgrade Problem

Postby antoniomch » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:46 pm

I had this problem on the last two upgrades

I'm using ClearOS server with tomcat v6
I had no problems at all with Subsonic war file instalation, but when I do an upgrade, following the steps here:http://www.subsonic.org/pages/installation.jsp#war, the subsonic does no work any more
It displays:
HTTP Status 404 -

type Status report

message

description The requested resource () is not available.
Apache Tomcat/6.0.24

I managed to put it working again, deleting all subsonic info in the folders:
./usr/tomcat/webapps/subsonic.war
./usr/tomcat/webapps/subsonic
./usr/tomcat/work/Catalina/localhost/subsonic
./usr/tomcat/temp/subsonic
./var/subsonic

And when I put the war file again Subsonic opens like a fresh install
Is there a known problem that prevents the upgrade?

Thanks in advance

Ive been running subsonic on tomcat for quite a while now and the only issues Ive ever run into is where the db lock file is still there and subsonic fails to restart.

The reason why your server was like a fresh install is because you removed /var/subsonic that direcotry contains the properties files and db for subsonic. So when you clean that out it resets your server basically.

Did you look at the tomcat logs after the server was restarted and you got the 404? If so what was the error message? Can you look back through your tomcat logs for the time when this happened and post the error message here, if you can we may be able to help.

My guess, just from my experience is that the /var/subsonic/db/subsonic.lck had the database in a locked state so tomcat wasnt able to bring it back online, search for subsonic.lck in your tomcat logfile to see if this is the case. If it is then all you would have needed to do was remove that file and restart tomcat.

I'll be more patient on the next update, and try to see why is that happening without killing every file :D

But I did have the file subsonic.lck on /var/subsonic/db/
When that file is present means that the db is locked ?
