Old search index available while indexing?

Is it possible to let the old search index be available while lucene reindexes.

My collection is quite large and it takes about 11 hours to reindex every time. I update the search index only once per week (at night) but I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to still use the old index during this process?

Just interesting, how large is your collection when it takes 11 hours to re-index?

Mine is 291.73 GB and it takes a few minutes to re-index it from scratch..
Updating the index takes ~45 seconds, just tested it.

My stats:
7,131 artists
2,347 albums
48,842 songs
291.73 GB (~ 4,531 hours)

My stats are:

11,631 artists
19,308 albums
561,621 songs
16031.28 GB (~ 249,037 hours)

All songs are in FLAC on DroboPro (connected by 1Gbps LAN)

Although I only serve about 200 gig atm, having this would make subsonic much more flexible for huge collections.
