upload path

Postby sherlock » Tue Apr 05, 2011 10:05 am

hi all!

the linux version of subsonic provides an input text field for the upload path. it contains the full path from /, which is in my opinion an unnecessary risk. a relative path from the defined music folder would be enough.

is there a way to restrict the input field to such a relative path?

thanks in advance...

it seems that subsonic denies saving the file after it is uploaded to the server if the folder is not defined as a music folder in the subsonic settings. can someone confirm this behavior?

anyway, choosing the appropriate folder from a list of allowed locations would be a nice feature ;)

I can Confirm that! In fact it has given me no end of headaches...

I finally found a post by Sindre confirming this behavior. It is a safeguard to ensure that users can't upload files where ever they want, since the upload path is not obscured to the users.

The behavior is annoying if you don't want your users to have immediate access to uploaded material. Ultimately I want to vet uploads before unleashing them into the system, you really can't do that tho, not given the current way uploading is handled. In the end I just added a "recently Uploaded" folder :/

Thanks for your replies. Glad not to be the only one who thinks that this is somehow suboptimal. Perhaps I should post a feature request.

I will also try the mod, although I don't really like the thought of a concurrent version to the main development.
