I have looked at my WHS and the only thing I can think of now is the firewall.
On my system in the firewall on tab Execptions are 2 entries for subsonic.
They are added with 'Add Program'
the first is C:\Program Files\Subsonic\subsonic-agent.exe
and the second is C:\Program Files\Subsonic\subsonic-service.exe
I can not remember if these are set by the setup, or by hand.

Hi Gary

https is not checked on the subsonic control panel

is this what you are referring to?

I think you mean elsewhere since you said ssp/https.

Sorry to keep bugging you.

Windows firewall has subsonic ports 8080 and 440 open and TCP is checked.

I also turned off the firewall to test and it was no better.

I also have Mcafee managed service total protection running. It came with the ACER Aspire H320.

Any other bloat where that is known to cause problems.

firefly media server is installed. AS is Bonjour (this looks like it is a network printer program).

Mcafee could be causing problems. I've run WHS for serveral years now without any AV protection, without any problems. Most virus/malware gets into computers from email or browsing to bad sites. Since WHS is seldom used that way, it rarely gets exposed to any threats.

Re:SSL/https - Yes, I wanted you to first get the http copnnection before moving to enabling https.

If you can reach SS internally using the internal ip:port# and you can get to that port number using canyouseeme.org, then there is no reason that you shouldn't connect from outside your network, unless some other program is intercepting the traffic.

How are you testing the external address?

It makes more sense if your not connecting internally. Yes, if you have the box unchecked in the SS Control Panel, then SSL is disabled.

If you can't connect after the reboot, I'd suggest just doing a reinstall.

Progress...

I am able to log into the SS site using the following URL in firefox

http://192.168.xx.100:8080/index.view

100 is my desktop machine which Subsonic was initially installed in. So is Subsonic is looking for my old machine? My server is 192.168.xx.243?

The subsonic web site says there are no music files. I had input the path to the music files that are on the server.

D:\shares\Music\Music Collection\

I was also able to log in from my server using the 192.168.xx.100 IP address.

That's the problem! You need to reset the port forwarding on the router to point to the server ip. Also, you shoud not run both SS instances on the same port #

That is what I did on the router, long ago. I have rebooted the router several times.

I uninstalled subsonic on my pc.

I need to reboot once again and I will also reboot the router.

I rebooted the entire system, router, pc, server. subsonic is not running on PC.

Now I cannot connect to the subsonic website server at all. Port 8080 still come up open when tested. Router says the port is forwarded to the server.

I reinstalled subsonic on the server.

Also I can not connect to subsonic on my droid. The test server tests OK.

I have tried to forward other ports to the server to use them but I have not been successful. getting messages like the ISP is blocking those ports.

I'm at a complete loss.

It is possible that your ISP is blocking commonly used ports. Can you reach your WHS remote webpage?

Which ISP and router are you using?

Yes, I can reach my home server remote website. XXXX.homeserver.com

I am a comcast broadband customer. My router is a Linksys E3000. less than six months old.

Gary, I really DO APPRECIATE your help.
