SubSonic for Android stop streaming, screen won't turn on

Postby bemymonkey » Mon Apr 11, 2011 9:19 am

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, since I'm not entirely sure it's even got anything to do with Subsonic. It's happened three times so far though, always with Subsonic currently streaming:

1. Subsonic stops playing, always at the end of a song.
2. The screen no longer turns on when I press the power button.

There's nothing particularly interesting in the Android log, as far as I can tell:

Code: Select all

04-11 11:06:27.988: INFO/power(251): *** set_screen_state 1

04-11 11:06:28.119: VERBOSE/NotificationService(251): Pkg: ccc71.bmw.icons.tma group: Other

However, it seems that Subsonic stopped playing because my WiFi connection dropped out for some reason:

Plenty,

First, it might be helpgul to let us know what phone you're using. If the problem is your Wifi dropping out, try connecting over 3g.

Have you tested the phone on the demo server or another known good server?

First determine if the problem is the phone, the server, or the Wifi. Do this by the process of elimination using the steps described above. If it turns out to be the Wifi, it might be time for a new router. My experience has been that wifi routers seldom go beyond two years before they start dropping the load under heavy use. They run hot and degrade over time. YMMV

Hi GJ51!

1. I'm running CyanogenMod7 Final on a HTC Desire GSM, HBOOT 0.93 Alpharev N1Table, with a 1GB EXT2 partition on the SD card and FireRat A2SDEXT.

2. The WiFi router is brand new (just a few days old), and all other WiFi devices in the household (about 10 in all) are working perfectly.

3. I've tested on a demo server, but nowhere near long enough to reproduce this issue - takes an hour or two to happen. I'll try this out this evening though... should the demo server in the Android app suffice?

Going on your reaction, I'm going to assume that this hasn't been reported before?

The demo server should be adequate, or you can use mine,

I'd also recommend an uninstall of the Android app and do a reinststall from the market.

Thanks, I'll give you a heads-up when I'm done with the first round of testing ;) :D

Just to let you know, if you've been trying to test on my server for the past couple hours, it was offline due to a power failure caused by high winds in my area. It's back up now.

Looks like this might be a CyanogenMod WiFi issue - just had the same symptom when transferring a file over WiFi with SwiFTP, so probably not Subsonic's fault.

Just wanted to report that this seems to have been an issue with just a few CyanogenMod builds - haven't been able to reproduce it any more. :)

Thanks for the troubleshooting Tips Gary!

Could someone please tell me how to access this android log? Subsonic on my phone is acting very strangely, and I'd like to poke around this log and see if I can figure out why...

Install "Log Collector" from the Market.
