IP Address Conflict

I know this is not a subsonic issue but I don't know where else to post it and can't figure out there right keywords to search it. A little while ago I re-installed my distro (Ubuntu 10.10 but also mostly use kde with it). I don't really know how to describe it but for some reason, my computer/localhost thinks that my ip address is 192.168.122.1 at all wireless networks I'm in. At home I use at static ip address of 192.168.1.136 and can see that is obviously what the ip address is.

Where am I getting at? Well for one, I cannot access the *.subsonic.org address that I setup from outside the network no matter what. The only way that I am able to access subsonic from inside the network on another computer is by typing in 192.168.122.1:4040/index.view.

Anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this problem I am having? Thanks.

Change the static ip to the 122 address. Change the associated port fwd rules to 122 also.

Open the defalt network manager in Ubuntu and under the Wireless Networks tab (or whatever your using), switch the wireless from static to dhcp. In the future when you set a static IP, make sure IP is 192.168.1.(whatever), Subnet is 255.255.255.0,
Default gateway is 192.168.1.1 and DNS is 192.168.1.1, assuming you're behind a linksys router.

When I have a machine (like a laptop or iPod) i always make sure to leave it DHCP because of the number of conflicts you'd get going from access point to access point.

Also make sure your subsonic server is set to a static address and it's a good idea to register a free no-ip.org domain to connect to it easier. Then when you connect from a different machine type "site.no-ip.org:4040" into the address bar, and make sure you have 4040 port forwarded.

Following those steps should solve your problem.

Actually I uninstalled both the Ethernet and wireless adapters in the Device Manager... then Scan for Changes - and it will reinstall them. Then I was able to connect!
