Faulty Android App Ruining Subsonic's Statistics

Postby esper » Tue Apr 12, 2011 2:51 pm

A user of mine uses a Subsonic Android App on his phone (not sure exactly which one), but I guess when his SD card is full and he tries to stream an album it will constantly try to play it over and over again. The other night he tried to play an album that had '7 plays' and now shows '149 plays' after getting the errors. This is ruining my site's statistics (Most Played, Recently Played, etc.). How can I reset/edit these stats? Thanks.

The same thing happened to me a few days ago. I thought it was very strange as this one user was streaming the same track over and over again for two days without his knowledge and even more strangely seemed at times to stream it a number of times simultaneously. I counted 17 of the same user, same client & same track at one stage on the "Now Playing" window and thats when i had to delete his account to stop it. And even then my server logs showed repeated failed login attempts by his(android client) again without his knowledge. My server was unable to cope and it was impossible for others to stream, i guess all uplink bandwidth was being sucked by this.

I dont own an android device and the user lives in a different town as well as being non-technical so i could not determin what the reason was. This stopped after i deleted his account and him switching off his device. Your description of lack of storage space sounds reasonable as my friend also has a very low disk space left.
Best Regards

This used to happen rather frequently with the android app when a user would try to download a file. The android app would continuously redownload the song as it would error out when the android app tried to save it.

This generally happened with larger sized files (over 10MB) but I havent seen with the last couple releases of the app. It appears to be "now playing" multiple times because it generally only redownloads the couple hundred bytes of the file, and each call it makes generates that now playing entry (or it used to).

TO fix the statistics you should be able to use the db.view page (which allows you to run queries on the backend database. If you know sql you should be able to remove the details on that specific file.
