[Android] Problems with the "Shuffle Play" functio

Postby cachapa » Wed Apr 20, 2011 11:09 pm

I'm having a bit of a problem with the "Shuffle Play" function in the Android app.
When I try it with the demo server, it works quite well: at first it says "Playlist is empty", but then it loads a small playlist and starts playing.

However, when I try it from my server (connected on the local network with a private IP address), nothing happens, and I just keep staring at the "Playlist is empty" message.

Otherwise it seems that everything is working fine. I can browse my library and play individual songs.

Any ideas on what I may be missing?
The server is running Ubuntu Linux, and the software is completely up to date.
My copy isn't activated yet as I'm currently still evaluating the software.

The only problem I'm seeing is with creating playlists. For example, generating a random playlist in the "More" menu does nothing. Could that be related?

Shuffling the entire library is to me the most important function. I tried doing it with a custom playlist which included every song, but that was incredibly slow to load.

On the server, do you have your music organized by folder?

e.g. C:\Music\Artist\Album\Track#

Yes, I do.

Strangely after more than a few tries it started working.
It seems that the initial loading of the playlist takes a while, and I guess there's no communication when it fails.

Perhaps instead of the "playlist is empty" message, it'd be friendlier to tell the user what's going on.

In any case from what I saw so far, it's a pretty impressive system :-)
Thanks for the help.

Cheers,
