Prepare failed.: status=0x1 (IOException)

Postby nohart » Tue Mar 22, 2011 2:21 am

Hello I keep getting an error for an mp3 music file:

Prepare failed.: status=0x1 (IOException)

I have tried to repair the file but no errors are found. I have also tried renaming, re-writing etc all no help.

The file info is: (from Winamp)

C:\My Shared Folder\Sniff n The Tears - Drivers Seat.mp3

Payload Size: 3831431 bytes
Header found at: 57534 bytes
Length: 239 seconds
MPEG-1 layer 3
128 kbps, approx. 1145 frames
44100 Hz Stereo

CRC: No, Copyrighted: No
Original: Yes, Emphasis: None

It plays fine except over my phone which is Google Mytouch Slide by HTC

I have looked all around here and have seen the same problem reported several times without a fix. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry all the above link did was take me to the search page. I am not sure if that is what you meant for the link to do. I have searched and read many posts about this issue and didn't find a fix so this is why I posted in the forum.

Sorry, I thought there were some threads that had figured this one out. The link was supposed to list the posts, not just bring up the search page. My bad.

so I'm getting this too-- its really annoying, pops up here and there but usually retrying a few times gets things moving. I checked my firewall rules and nothing is blocking subsonic. HELP!

Go to http://www.canyouseeme.org/ enter your SS port number and click the Check box to be sure the Subsonic port is open.

The port is open. It is when playing a playlist just certain songs come up with errors. I think it has something to do with Android.

Best I can ascertain is: I have searched Google and many phones have problems similar to this.

This type of message is from the android phone not from the application Subsonic...

Having this bug myself, on a FLAC file (transcoding settings left on the default, so streamed as MP3).

The file plays fine from the web interface, it's just the Android app that seems to be having problems. Strangely enough, all the other songs from the album (ripped from the same BluRay, using the same FLAC encoder, encoded with the same settings and everything) play just fine on my phone.

Config:
-HTC Desire w/ CyanogenMod7 RC4
-Latest Subsonic server
-Latest Subsonic Android app

Any ideas?

I can e-mail sample files if needed...

Possible solution

Postby grant420 » Fri Apr 08, 2011 8:08 pm

This may be due to a bug in the app. Change your flac > mp3 transcoding to this:
lame -b %b -S --resample 44.1 - -

It fixed this issue for me (problem occurred on Android app, and even the server wasn't able to play most of my .flac files)

It worked, thanks!

No idea why though...

The transcoding fix didn't work for me. Turns out ffmpeg was having trouble reading the tags in my flac music. So I opened my tag&rename, removed all the tags, readded them and voila, it all worked normally.

Hmmm, did you readd the tags in exactly the same format? Same text, with possible Unicode/foreign letters and stuff like that?

Probably not. Tag&Rename has an option to get CD info from Amazon, that's what I did.

What about video

Postby dimaj » Mon May 16, 2011 7:17 pm

Hey guys,

What a about video playback on Android app? I too am running the latest version of server and client. My device is Motorola Droid (CM 6.0.1)

Here's my transcoding setting:
ffmpeg -ss %o -i %s -async 1 -b %bk -s %wx%h -ar 44100 -ac 2 -v 0 -f flv -

Am I doing something wrong?

I receive the same error in my Android notification bar [Prepare failed.: status=0x1 (IOException)] when streaming audio/video.
Despite receiving this error, all flac>mp3, mkv>flv and avi>flv still successfully stream/play over my device(s).

I'm running:
Readynas Pro Pioneer-Radiator 4.2.17
Subsonic 4.5.02 (default transcoding configuration)

Android Subsonic music streamer 2.8.1
HTC EVO 3D-Android 2.3.3 (Sprints stock ROM, no OTA updates)

It appears since Radiator 4.2.17, plugins may be updated directly from within Frontview.
If you're running Radiator 4.2.17 and updated Readynas' Subsonic to 4.5.02 via Frontview, then you may want to try re/installing ffmpeg 1.2 from here.

This link used to be the primary source for Readynas' Subsonic updates but it appears to have been abandoned.
