Help Setting up UNC Path on Ubuntu PC to a Linksys NSLU2 NAS

Postby anjenaire » Sun May 01, 2011 7:52 pm

I am trying to set up SS on an Ubuntu Desktop 11.04. So far so good. My music files are on Linksys NAS (NSLU2) but I am unable to resolve the path correctly. When I type in the server name: " //Linksys/Disc 2/iTunes Music" the first thing that happens is that the double slash turns to a single slash.

I know this is probably something simple but can someone help with the path name?

Same device is working fine with Windows 7 machine but I want to create a headless unit and stick it in the closet.

I can navigate to the NAS fine and play music off the storage device under Ubuntu fine.

Linux Path to Network Attached Storage Device

Gave up! No combination would work. Decided a 1 TB external drive would be easiest solution (making it a local drive on the Subsonic Server machine) and not keep spending time in a vacuum. Now I need to share the external drive over the network and get my Audiotron to see it as well as move all other music over to that drive. Plus make sure that the music is formatted well for SS.

Did you try mounting the NAS first using smbmount

I used to have mountpoints for storage that wasn't on the subsonic server and so had everything mounted and had no issues whatsoever.

Let me know if you need further clarification on mounting NAS shares.

As Aethies says, you should create a mount pount in your Ubuntu desktop. Then point the music folder entry to the mount point. Works flawlessly.
