Lame.exe using 100% CPU when subsonic isnt doing anything

Postby watchinthewheels » Mon May 23, 2011 5:19 pm

Hi

I have an odd issue that has only started in the last couple of days. My PC has started running really badly and on further investigation it turns out that the process lame.exe is using 100% of the CPU all the time.

I know subsonic uses lame when its transcoding but it is using the CPU up even when nothing is playing in subsonic at all. If I stop the subsonic service the tasks die and it is no longer a problem.

The strange thing is that I have been using this PC as a subsonic server for months now without any trouble at all, this issue has only started happening in the last couple of days.

Can anyone shed some light onto what may be causing this problem and how I can stop it because I cant run the app at the moment because of it. I can't have my PC running full bore 24/7, it sounds like it may take off.

I have had a look on the forums and heard mention of an issue regarding rebuilding the search list, but I don't know if that is the case or if it is how I would resolve it.

Any help would be really appreciated, thanks.

I don't have any issues like that, but I do recall something about lame doing something in the background with video files. Do you have a lot of video? Has the initial index completed? You can go to Settings/Search and click on Update search index now to force an index update. It should only take a few minutes.
