Tomcat requirement for .deb installer

Postby garyjmellor » Tue May 24, 2011 8:43 am

Quick question: I installed the .deb version of Subsonic on my Ubuntu server. This could be really stupid but do I actually need tomcat6 for this type of install - nowhere in the instrutions does it actually say I need tomcat for this. I installed tomcat6 as I thought it would be needed but it seems this is only required if using the .war. Can somebody clarify the situation for me please? Thanks in advance.

You don't need Tomcat. The .deb comes bundled with Jetty.

Hi Poffa

Thanks for your reply. Ironically I just discovered the answer myself when the email alert came through letting me know someone had replied. I simply stopped Tomcat and tried to see if Subsonic would still work. It did. I should've just done this in the first place - obvious when I thought about it. I'll remove Tomcat in due course.

Thank you anyway - it's always nice to know people are willing to help.

Regards.
