Hourly scan

Postby SparkyRih » Thu May 26, 2011 12:09 pm

I'd like to have the option to scan my media every hour...

I store my music on two desktops, they get synced with the server every hour.... But I like subsonic to index the media on the server every hour...
VMWare ESXi 5.5 > Ubuntu 16.04 > Subsonic 6.0 (Modded with PHP based registration feature)

The correct thing to do would be a FAM daemon hanging around in the background that indexes instantly when new music is added. No one really wants to wait an hour after ripping a CD. I might try write one this weekend for linux.

I'm fairly sure this isn't possible with the current design of Subsonic. It's designed to scan every 24 hours, and if you haven't noticed, during that scan the search index is completely unavailable. I'm not sure if that's by necessity or not - but you certainly wouldn't want your index unavailable every hour as your song catalog updates...
