Negative. Your SERVER needs a static IP (lan, not wan), and this is simply set on your server's lan card settings, or manually in your router's lan settings. Your xxx.subsonic.org address (donation) allows external access by redirecting the request to your current server IP, even if your ISP changes your WAN IP. Clear?

That is for an EXTERNAL Static IP, which is definitely NOT required for Subsonic.

I've been online at my home since 1989, first with TWC and now with Verizon FIOS. In that time I've only had my ip change twice, once with each provider.

Protip: Technically, Comcast doesn't allow servers of any kind on residential connections. While I don't know anyone who's been disabled for it, they can technically and legally terminate your service for running a server (even a Subsonic server) on your residential Internet. It's in your contract.

Tread carefully. I recommend HTTPS, even if the certificate is invalid. They're probably less likely to pay attention to that.
