New Subsonic logo, anyone?

Postby sindre_mehus » Wed Jul 05, 2006 7:07 am

Hi,

Is there anyone who would like to design a new Subsonic logo? I like the concept of a yellow submarine, but would like the logo to have a more contemporary and professional look. Unfortunately, I'm no graphics designer myself ...

Please post a reply or contact me directly (sindre_mehus@users.sourceforge.net) if you would like to help.

Thanks!
Sindre

PS: You will of course be given due credit on the Subsonic web pages :)

I sort of like the simplicity of it as-is.

Yes, don't change the idea of the 'comic'-look-like submarine. Maybe offer different color/line style logos for different themes...but not more.

Hi Sindre,

I'd like to offer my logo design that I put together real quick for your amazing app. I went with a look and colors staying very close to the original logo, but with a little bit less of a cartoonish feel.

I went ahead and created small and large version plus a favicon.ico file for displaying on all modern browsers.

Large Logo for resize and use on Web Site, Forums, etc.

Small Logo for use on the Subsonic web interface

Favorite Icon (favicon.ico) for displaying in modern browsers (16, 32, 48px sizes included along with XP and 256-color versions)

Nice! Thanks a lot for your efforts.

Would you mind providing it in svg format?

Thanks again,
Sindre

No problem Sindre...thank YOU for a great app! I wish I would've found it much sooner. I've been using Streamsicle for years and simply wishing that someone would pick up the development on the project. But Subsonic just blows it away!

Here's the SVG version of the logo: http://www.conceptualintegration.com/gfx/subsonic/subsonic.svg

Unfortunately, the sub photo is not vector so you'll only be able to enlarge it to a certain point before pixelating. The text is all vector though, so that's no problem.

That's nice stuff!!!

*Love* the submarine image! I'm only luke-warm on the font, but really like the logo overall. Great work!!!

Thanks... but again, this was just a quick and dirty logo that I put together real quick since I was in the middle of another project at the time. The sub itself was an image that I found on Google Images that I just cut up and slightly altered the colors and added the font and "sonic" lines in front.

I'd love to see Sindre incorporate it into a future build if he'd like. But we'll have to wait until he gets back from his much deserved vacation

Can you please tell me where you found it? (I should make sure we can use it without violating any copyrights etc).

Thanks 8)

Hmm...I probably should have given the pic a closer look. Looks like its a pic for a bathtub radio. I found it at the bottom of this search page: http://images.google.com/images?ndsp=21 ... rt=42&sa=N

Maybe the colors are altered enough to still use it? lol

I don't think so. I think it's better to draw a new submarine.
Otherwise the logo looked very nice.

You're right, mars.

Maybe today or tomorrow i'll make some time and redraw a similar sub in vector form. That way we'll have a resizable graphic for any application.

thanks for the feedback!

Alright...I went ahead and redrew the logo and I think it's for the better. I've changed it a little bit to make it a little more "streamlined" and is fully vector now, but still kept the original style/form. So now it can be resized to any size and remain crisp.
