Fresh install - Error enabling port 443 in control panel.

Ok, so I reinstalled my Windows 7 Ultimate so that I could go to 64-bit. However, when I enable port 443 in the Subsonic 4.4 Control Panel I get "java.net.SocketException: Unrecognized Windows Sockets error: 0: JVM_Bind" and can't connect to the Subsonic web interface anymore.

Either with http:// or https://

This was working fine before the reinstall. My router is still set to allow 443 through and so is my Windows firewall. Though since I can't access it locally, it's something not loading correctly. The service is set to log on as an Administrator account with log on as a service.

I'm happy to provide any more details that I can.

Thanks Gary, I guess I can try to uninstall Java and reinstall, thought it was the current version as of when I just installed W7 64-bit. Also, I'm using firefox 4 so it's a 32-bit app.

I'm very familiar with networking and my ISP doesn't block 443. I've got dynamic DNS set up to the external IP of my router and my internal box is 'hardcoded' by MAC address in my DHCP server.

The problem is that I can't even access port 443 on the local machine at https://localhost when it is turned on I get the error listed in my first post.

I'll go uninstall Java and reinstall now for good measure. Ok, that is completely bizarre - I had done a fresh install of Java because the whole OS was a fresh install. I downloaded the latest version and installed it. 32-bit.

Now uninstalling and reinstalling has taken care of the issue. That makes little or no sense to me but it's fixed so who's complaining. Thanks, I would have never thought to uninstall and reinstall Java - first time for everything.

Sometimes the Voodoo just works better.

Just remember that if you access via servername.subsonic.org you still need to use http - not https to make the connection. Once connected via the subsonic.org redirection, SS will initiate the ssl connection.
