Subsonic won't play WavPack Files

Problem Description: I can't get .wv (WavPack) files to play, plays everything else fine.

Troubleshooting Steps: I haven't tried anything because I don't know where to start...

Playback Application and version: Droid Subsonic App on Nexus1

Subsonic Version: 4.4 (build 2172) – February 6, 2011

Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_24, Windows 2003 (94.3 MB / 96.7 MB)

.wv is not a default file type. You might be able to get it to work but you'll have to specify the extension in the Music Mask under Settings/General, second box down.

Once you've identified the file type as music to SS, you then need to set the transcoding for it. Go to Settings/Transcoding and define the transcoding. Just go to the bottom where the open blocks are just below "Add transcoding."

Thank you for the quick response. I got it to work. I am now streaming .wv to my Droid. No Problems. You give good advice. Thank You

I added the file extension to the Music Mask per your advice and I used:

I'm not sure what all that means, but I copied and pasted from Subsonic's recommended settings page when I couldn't get it to play with your suggested settings. Turns out the problem was: I had to activate the new transcoder for all my old players -- one of which was the Droid -- on the player's setting page. If "default" is checked the new transcoder is automatically enabled on new players, but nothing is added to the old players. It seems counter intuitive, and I was momentarily stymied. But I figured it out.

It is a bit counter-intuitive, but ist does add some flexibility that I use. I transcode all my music to ogg for playback on my Android phone, but only use those settings on my phone, so it helps being able to assign different settings to different players in some instances. It can get a bit tricky to remember to recheck the player settings after modifying transcoding settings.
