Port forwarding made easy (make a sticky?)

Postby conchchowder » Sat Jul 02, 2011 3:25 pm

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Network-To ... ding.shtml

My ISP closes port 80 all the time so I'm usually left without my own music and need to run TuneIn or Slacker.
I understand enough about networking to get the basic Subsonic rinning but getting the settings right for port forwarding so canyouseeme is recognizing port 8080 just wasn't happening.

I Googled "port forwarding program" and this one came uo.

I set the port in the subsonic dashboard to 8080 and increased the memory to 512mb and restarted the service

I intered the name of my router (a Vonage VOIP router), the password, and the port I wanted and in seconds, my Galaxy pro was working fine again.

I highly suggest this for someone having issues with their stream randomly shutting down and a limited knowledge of port forwarding.

Nice find! This is always the biggest hurdle getting SS set up for most users. I've not tested it yet, but I've added your link to my notes for future reference.
