And again after the update all my settings are lost...
This worries me a little bit? What should I do before I install future updates to avoid this?

For simplicity. The public IP is generally not known to the Subsonic server (and it also cannot know if it's dynamic or not) - whereas the subsonic.org address is known, it supports dynamically changing IPs, and it works both within your lan and from the outside.

I've implemented most of your suggestions:
o URLs no longer contains IDs of songs. They now look like this: http://foo.subsonic.org/share/jOyG
o Music will be streamed using a guest user, rather than the user than created the share.
o Added a management page "Settings > Shared media" where you can manage your shares and see some statistics (# visits, time of last vist).
o Currently you can only delete shares, but I'll also add expiration date.
o Admin users can manage all shares.
o Added full REST support for shares.
The checkboxes and combobox will probably stay there, as they will serve other purposes in later releases (e.g., add selected songs o a saved playlist). But I will look into making them less "visible".
Cheers,
Sindre

Thanks for the reply. Must this be turned on for users other than an Admin in order for the "Shared Media" section to appear in 'Settings'? Because I have "User is allow to share..." turned on for myself and yet I see no where for me to administrate what has been shared.
That's really what I was trying to get at.
