Donation - What Apps Are Included

Postby jumu » Sat Jul 23, 2011 8:34 am

The website says that "The license never expires and is valid for all current and future apps." However, both iPhone/iPad apps (iSub/Z-Subsonic) require payment to get it from the iTunes store. So how can I get these apps and use the key received by "donating"?

I guess there are no apps for iPhones that are included with donations. Too bad for me and donations.

Correct. The donation allows for continued use of the api meaning that if you have a 3rd party app then it can connect to SS past the trial. Whether or not the 3rd party app has a cost that goes along with it is up to the developer of that app.

Thanks, got it. I was always thinking why people make such a big deal about this donation stuff. Give a 'donation' and you get your fixed URL, the subsonic server and licenses to all clients. Sounded like a good deal.

Well, now I understand. I assume that if video is ever supported it probably will be a different "Subvideo" module for which you have to donate again... If the "Boss" can assure video will be supported in the future and there will be no extra charge I might still become a believer...

Video is already suported by Subsonic. I am only speaking for Subsonic, not any third party applications. I stream video from my server all the time.
