Not working outside wi-fi network

Postby Luriden » Tue Aug 09, 2011 3:26 am

I bought the Windows Phone app and donated to have full access, but I have anything but at the moment. It's working fantastically on my Windows Phone on wi-fi, but not on 3G or on another PC away from home. I get a Not Found error on both PC and on the app if I try to access my library outside of my own network.

I'm currently on Windows 7 and have the Windows Firewall turned off, so that shouldn't be an issue at all. I'm using a Linksys router with DD-WRT firmware, and I have both the default port 80 and 443 (with Enable checked in the Subsonic settings) forwarded on my router's setup, with my PC's correct IP set up as well. My router has upnp support enabled, and I have automatic configuration enabled on Subsonic's settings as well. I have no other firewall programs running, and this is the only program that's having network issues for me. I've even been able to run Orb on my old iPhone in the past over 3G, this is the only time I've run into trouble.

Navigate to canyouseeme.org and test your port # (80)..does it pass?

Strangely enough, no, it doesn't pass. It says connection timed out, even though Subsonic tells me it's open... Not sure what I could be doing wrong, I've known how to forward ports for years, and those ports are definitely forwarded. I even disabled Avast Anti-Virus in case it was stepping in when it shouldn't be.

However, testing port 443 gives me this message:

Success: I can see your service on xx.xxx.xxx.xx on port (443)
Your ISP is not blocking port 443

I'm not sure what this means or if it's helpful, as that's just the port it uses for https, I'm sure port 80 still needs to be working.

Also, on the Subsonic Control Panel on the Status tab, at the bottom it says Server address: http://localhost/. Not sure if it's supposed to show my actual IP or if that's correct, just thought I'd mention it.

If SS is running, it should be open on port 80 (verified on localhost), and if properly forwarded on the router/modem, open on 80 to canyouseeme.org too. If canyouseeme.org cannot see it, nor can Android or anyone else. Try re-opening the port, and reboot the router and/or modem afterwards, and retest canyouseeme.org

I reset my router and modem, but I'm still having the same problem. I tried turning https off as well. I even turned on DMZ mode and set it to my computer's IP, and still nothing. I'm baffled. I tried using Subsonic on other IP addresses, and though it passes the test on canyouseeme.org, it still won't load Subsonic. I can't even load Subsonic locally if it's set to another port, such as 8080.

However, when I turn https off, I do notice that I get a different error when loading Subsonic from my phone's internet browser. I get the message "Error 502 - Bad Request" which is something I didn't get with https on.

Well I had a friend test it out on his computer and it loads up fine for him, it's just not working on my Windows Phone, from neither the app nor the internet browser. I'm really confused.

EDIT: Nevermind, it started working. I don't know how, but I gave it an hour and it started working automatically. I guess changing the port to 8080 and disabling https helped.
