Won't turn back on.

Postby Alexbeldan » Tue Aug 16, 2011 8:25 pm

Problem Description: Stop subsonic service doesn't work. I have to go into task manager and kill the process. After that, it won't start up unless I restart my computer. Any ideas?

Subsonic Version: 4.5 (build 2385) – August 11, 2011
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_26, Windows 7 (48.0 MB / 71.7 MB)
Hardware Platform: Windows Ultimate N

It sounds to me that Subsonic Agent task is not running.
You should have 2 SS processes running subsonic-agent and subsonic-service.

I do have 2 running. I have to shut down both to get an actual shutdown.

If you have a fairly large collection, you may need to increase the Java memory allocation in the Subsonic CP. I use 256mb.

If that doesn't help, I'd uninstall/reinstall Java. If that doesn't work, I'd uninstall/reinstall SS. If that doesn't work, I'd reinstall Windows. if that doesn't work, I sure wouldn't buy a lottery ticket or go outside during a thunderstorm.

When you say it wont let you change it is the setting boxed greyed out, the settings tab not available or after you change it (and save) the new setting is ignored?

This is the error I get.

Perhaps subsonic needs to be running with administrator rights?

It looks like somehow you've got permissions screwed up on the Subsonic folder. SS should be able to write ot any file in C:\Subsonic after installation. You could try to just reinstall SS over the existing setup. You could also Go to Services and edit Subsonic with Administrator log on priveledges.

http://monroeworld.com/android/subsonic/ has a section that illustrates how to elevate logon settings for Subsonic.
