Track name issue

Postby bile » Mon Aug 29, 2011 8:10 pm

metaflac --list 01=01_Ghosts_I.flac

comment[0]: ARTIST=Nine Inch Nails
comment[1]: ALBUM=Ghosts I-IV
comment[2]: TITLE=01 Ghosts I
comment[3]: DATE=2008
comment[4]: TRACKNUMBER=01/38

Yet in Subsonic it shows the title as "Ghosts I". All 38 tracks are the same. The track number is right but the name has been stripped of the track number prefix (which is the correct title).

Ghosts I instead of 01 Ghosts I
Ghosts I instead of 02 Ghosts I
Ghosts II instead of 10 Ghosts II
etc.

TITLE: 01 Ghosts I

I don't follow. Isn't that what should happen? Mine's not but should. What version are you using?

Yes that is what is suppose to happen :)

I am using v4.5final on server 2003

If you told us what version you had and what you are running on we may be help further

eg: HOW TO ASK FOR HELP

I would also check that the tags display correctly in another media player.

4.5 on Ubuntu 11.04. Yes the tags show up correctly elsewhere.

No reason to be a smartass about it.

Intrigued in that asking you for some basic information on what you are running and asking you to check the tags in another mediaplayer can be determined as smartass

As it is clearly not a global SS problem (eg its working fine on windows well on mine at least :) ) we need to establish if its the flac tags / os or something else which is causing the problem.
I would suggest converting 1 or 2 of the files to mp3 and see if they get reported correctly.
Also you could check with a tag editor and see if you have any info in the ID tags (on mine the ID tags are empty)

No, being a smartass is posting a photo of your setup not exhibiting the bug I'm experiencing and saying yours must be broken.

And yes, ogg vorbis and mp3 both exibit the same behavior. If I change the title from "01 Ghosts I" to "A01 Ghosts I" it shows up correctly as "A01 Ghosts I". Works fine if it's "001 Ghosts I" and "1 Ghosts I". It only strips it when it's two digits.

The problem is found in net/sourceforge/subsonic/service/metadata/MetaDataParser.java

title = removeTrackNumberFromTitle(title, metaData.getTrackNumber());

It shouldn't be removing data on an assumption. Any heuristics to figure out metadata should be configurable and off by default.

I would suggest that you post this in the "Feature Request" forum and Sindre can make it user configurable if he deems it high enough on the list.

Be as clear as possible, with this supporting information that you just posted, and it has a much better chance of getting done.
