"Now Playing" Section Not Updating

Since the last update, the "Now Playing" section no longer updates as it used to. I can't find a definitive answer as to whether this is by design, or if there is something wrong.

What used to happen is it would display what a user was listening to, and after 5 minutes if nothing else was listened to (or if nothing NEW was listened to- it wasn’t smart enough to know if you had a track on repeat) it would start a count-up showing how long ago the user listened to that track. That count-up would go for an hour, at which point it would clear and go away altogether.

Well, now what’s happening is that the section won’t refresh if you have the ALBUM on repeat. It’s like the “track-on-repeat” bug I mentioned in the previous paragraph, but now it’s applying to entire albums. I just listened to an album 3 times in a row, and it shows that I’m not listening to anything, because I haven’t picked a new album. No idea how long I have to wait before it will register that album again- so far it appears as if I have to restart the server for it to count again.

I’ll go back to the old version if I have to- I liked the way it used to track much better. Just throwing this out there in case somebody else is seeing it to. Thanks!

My now playing section is showing and updating correctly whether the album is on repeat or not. Which browser are you using?

Good thinking! But it happens in IE8, IE9, and FF6.

So when you hit "play all" on an album, let a few songs play (the whole time "Now Playing" is working fine) but then start the album over, the "Now Playing" section keeps up, and refreshes, reflecting that you started the album over?

Yep I think we are on the same page. I created an album with just 2 tracks for a test: set it for repeat: and my now playing list showed track 1,track 2,track 1,track 2 and so on. This was with chrome. I cannot test with FF or IE at the moment due to me repeat function going missing due to another mod which is being sorted (I hope )

Thanks for your feedback! I just tested Chrome, and it's doing the same thing. I'm not sure what else to try.

And I just discovered something else horrible about this- if it doesn't show in the "Now Playing" section, it isn't scrobbling to Last.FM either! That means I've lost a couple hundred plays this week alone. I guess I'll have to stop repeating albums...

UPDATE:

This is only happening when the album is ORIGINALLY played on Internet Explorer 9 FIRST. At that point, none of the other browsers will refresh/re-scrobble/etc. But if ONLY FF or IE8 are used, then it works fine!

Uninstalled IE9 until someday in the future. Not worth it. =)

I wonder if we should ask Sindre to add an automatic un-installer for IE9 with the SS installer.
It would remove a lot of the problems on this forum
