Virus Detected?

Postby ebdcs » Wed Oct 08, 2008 8:04 pm

Sidre mehus,

Congratulations on the excellent software multimedia stream. Soon be sending the translation into Portuguese (Brazil).
I'm reporting an indication of virus in the file "subsonic-3.5.beta2-setup" as Win32: Rbot-MDS (Backdoor), detected by Avast! Pro v4.8.1229 Bank of virus 08.10.2008

Please check.

Thank you.
Emmerson BD Castro (ebdcs)
Ps. It used a translator.

Hi Emmerson,

Thanks for reporting this. I also use Avast and get the same result if I scan subsonic-3.5.beta2-setup.exe. After some digging I found that the virus alert comes from the bundled transcoder which installs in c:\subsonic\transcode\faad.exe. However, if I scan this file directly no virus alert is given - so it's probably a false alert.

Anyway, I've updated the transcoding pack with a new version of faad.exe which works with Avast. It can be downloaded here: http://subsonic.sourceforge.net/transcode.html

Also, the upcoming 3.5 release will contain this new version of faad.exe.

Thanks again, and looking forward to the Portuguese translation!

SPR/SimpleFirewallC

Hello Sindre,

what a great software you're developing... Thanks a lot!

Since I use Subsonic, started with v3.7, my "Avira Antivirus" found SPR/SimpleFirewallC.
Now I use the new v3.8 but these warning still appear.

During the installation the following issues were found:
subsonic-3.8-setup.exe' -> SPR/SimpleFirewallC' [riskware]
SimpleFC.dll -> SPR/SimpleFirewallC' [riskware] (in my temp-folder)

After Installation this one is left:
uninstall.exe-> SPR/SimpleFirewallC' [riskware] (in program-folder)

Maybe you can check it out too? :)

Thank you!

Greetings
Matthias
