Download AVI files without streaming

Postby bongoman » Tue Sep 06, 2011 4:06 pm

Hi

Sorry I'm new to this program, can anyone help please, I want to just download AVI files without streaming ((not FLV) so I can play them in the video player on my Galaxy S. I notice there doesn't seem to be facility to 'PIN' video files as there aren't any ticks next to the files.

Also, what is the relevance of the orange or green asterisks next to the downloaded mp3 files ?

Thanks for your help . . .

Currently the feature that you want does not exist... there is no way to download a video in an remote client.

As to the other question, the yellow star means that is was downloaded as part of a playlist or your now playing screen, and could be purged to make room for future played songs (depending on your cache size).

The green star means you chose to download (or "pin") the file, and it will be kept in cache until you choose to remove it.

Thanks for your reply Glen, I appreciate your help . . .

I know you can download video files with other programs like Tonido but I haven't had much luck as the downloads keep ending prematurely for some reason. I hope its a feature added to Subsonic soon.

Subsonic is a super program for music but I live in a rural area with slow download speeds so I have to allow a couple of MB to download before starting a track.

This is tragic. All of my video is in .AVI containers (DivX/XVid codecs), and Android is perfectly capable of playing them well. Having my server at home spend clock cycles to reduce the quality just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Combined with the inability to view photos, this has me (a paid user) looking at other solutions :-(

Plex and Pogoplug seem to be at the top of the list. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
