When you get one of those crashes could you pm me the logfile so I can se if there are any clues there?
The log-file is located in your computers AppData folder under elDSoftware (or you can just search for SharpSonic.log).

The ability to save and load playlists is on my to-do for the future as well as getting the UI more responsive when not using the local cache.

Beta 7 Changelog
- Fixed a crash when local track was missing cover
- Some gui changes
- Re-written database for local cache, reduced size with about 90%
- Fixed a bug where multiple taskbar icons was added
- Fixed a crash when adding folders with one or more protected folders in them
- Added more steps for the volume slider when using media keys
- Fixed scrobbling errors for local artists/tracks with non-ascii characters
- Loving a track now shows the correct name in status bar
- Added fullscreen mode when pressing F11 (only works if SharpSonic has focus)

I ran the installer as administrator and I was able to connect. But then sharpsonic immediately stops working on Windows 7

It sounds as if the database has not been copied to the correct location.
Did you install it as administrator?
It should work if you just install it(without administrator) and then run it without administrator priviliges.
Could you pm me the SharpSonic.log-file so I can see if there are any clues to the crash there.

- Fixed a crash when playing recently added albums and the database was being updated
- Added the ability to save playlists. For now the playlists are saved in the local database, will add option to save on server in a future release.

My subsonic server has been without much use lately, as I discovered one really fine swedish webradio playing most of the songs I've been missing even my own collection is rather big on this genre

Let's see how much progress has been done within two months I've not been much able to test anything out.

Windows 7 Ultimate, 32-bit, local server

Sharpsonic beta8 installed perfectly
on the first startup with normal permissions, the software gave this error message to the eror log:

    in SharpSonic.ServerSelector.ConnectToServer()

Then I tried to run it with admin permissions, and it crashed right from the start. I'll PM the error message to you.

Thanks for the pm, will look into this. Seems to be the same error kermit22 got. It has been a long time since I changed anything in the serverconnection-code so it should not have crashed.
Will test on a few machines at work and see if I can figure this out.

I have done some checking and it seems as if you install sharpsonic as administrator you have to run it as administrator for it to work.
Will look into it some more and see if there is a workaround so that you can run it as regular user even if you install it with admin priviliges.

I did a fresh install on a different Windows 7 machine an I was able to install and run without issue.

One question, does sharpsonic follow the Subsonic transcoding and down sampling rules?

As of now I´m forcing Subsonic to use mp3 with a max bitrate of 256kbps.
This is due to the fact that I´m using Windows Media Player to play the streams and I have been having problems with higher bitrates.
In the future I might change this if someone is not happy with the quality of the streams, in which case I am thinking about implementing a player based on VLC.
Another thing I have noticed is that for some reason there seems to be problems playing certain songs from subsonic which when adding as files work ok, which leads me to believe that SubSonic has some transcoding problems with some mp3´s.

It should already work, I use it on my server without problems.
You might get a pop-up saying that the certificate is not trusted when you start playback though.
