The source is not available as of now.
This project is a hobby of mine and as long as I find it fun to work with I will keep it closed-source.
If I decide to stop working on it I might open-source it (but no promises).
If there is something you would like fixed/added, let me know and I will consider putting it on my (ever growing) task-list.

- Fixed a bug where on first run you had to restart the app for the database to load
- Added SharpSonic Remote Settings to Settings window

is there any chance that adjustable downsampling/bitrate selection could be added to future builds? I frequently use a 3g hotspot for wireless tethering with my laptop and I would like to be able use sharpsonic and the 256kbps bitrate is more than a 3g link can handle a lot of the time.

I have try your problem but I see no configuration about usage of a http proxy.
So I can't use it at works ^^

Just wanted to post and let you know that this project is not dead, I have just been busy with other things lately.
The next release will solve a few bugs involving memory-leaks and database update crashes.
There will be some new functionality as well though I have not decided what on my to-do list I will implement yet.

If you have suggestions/comments please post them here, feedback is allways welcome!

@Jorael You are correct, there are no settings for using a http-proxy as of now.

Hi,

Just installed SharpSonic (latest beta).

The first few times I tried to connect, it didn't work. It took me some time to realize that there's a log, and after having a look at it, I saw an error message about an invalid URI.

It turned out that I entered the server address like this: "blabla.subsonic.org", which is not a valid URI. Instead, it needs to have "http://" in front of the server URL in order to connect.


Now, as probably not everybody is nerd enough to come up with this idea in order to resolve this problem, it would be helpful to give a hint on the error message about being unable to connect

Or you could probably also modify the input field so that it gives an example. As far as I know, it's possible to set some kind of "background text" wo these fields which disappears upon entering something.

Thanks for sharing your hard work. I enjoy it very much and I use it on my home network all the time.
It is just too bad I cannot use SharpSonic at work because I need to go through proxy. So I give a +1 to Jorael's feature request.

I have question too.
When I click on ABC in the left window, all the artists from A-C show up.
Of course they have no picture, I don't have artist pictures. But the text underneath for example says:

Unknown artist
A Guy Called Gerald

I would suspect it to just display the artist name only (and artist pictures if you use them.
Is this by design? Or a bug maybe?

I have started to look at implementing http-proxy settings for a future version.
Will add a sample URL for the connection screen in the next version.
@rwa66 the reason you see unknown artist is probably because you have a different directory structure than what the subsonicserver(which I fetch the data from) expects.
It uses artist/album/track for the structure so you probably have one extra folder like
ABC/artist/album/track ?
Do you see the same thing in the web interface?

- Fixed a memory leak that would eat up memory as long as random albums was shown
- Added a animation framework to be able to do animations easily
- Added slide transition for random albums
- Added a setting for maximum bitrate when streaming (Settings -> Network)

Very good work eldanno! I am enjoying my music at my office now also and i am very happy.

Another small thing. Not very annoying, but still a bug maybe?
Sometimes Sharpsonic stops suddenly between two tracks when playing a playlist.
It happens to me over WAN but also over LAN. The progress bar is almost at the end of a track and looks like:
00:01 [PROGRESSBAR] -00:-1
Not extremely annoying, I can click the next track and it plays on, no problem.
