Subsonic: Installing on Centos 6

Postby walter » Thu Oct 20, 2011 6:24 pm

Hallo everybody

I had an subsonic installation running on my ubuntu system some time ago.

Now I moved to Centos 6, but I have some trouble using it. I installed it but I'm not able to add music folders. I think it's a permission problem.

I used this post here viewtopic.php?t=5098

To make my installation not running as root. I created a user named subsonic added it to users. All music directories are readable at the moment by subsonic user.
I exactly followed this tutorial and also changes those permissions. Do I have forgot something to change, or does subsonic uses also other directories?

Code: Select all
chown -R subsonic:nogroup /tmp/subsonic
chown -R subsonic:nogroup /var/subsonic
chown -R root:root /var/subsonic/transcode
chown -R root:root /var/subsonic/jetty/*/webapp

Subsonic does not find the music.

Help is appreciated

THX in advance

Walter

What is your path to the music?
Is it /var/subsonic/music? And I assume you are putting that in the settings screen as well, for your music paths.

I have all my subsonic stuff set to the user:group of subsonic...

No I added it to users. the subsonic user is also member of group users.

Code: Select all
chown -R subsonic:users /tmp/subsonic
chown -R subsonic:users /var/subsonic

But I have tried it again with root access, but it doesn't work. Seems there is no permission problem.
I have my music not in /var/subsonic I have it on another disk (/mnt/disk4/disk4/FLAC/FLAC_KAT1)

Problem Description: Music Folder not being recognised by subsonic.
Troubleshooting Steps: Adding a music folder and scanning it doesn't bring up the music files.

So here are some more informations. I don't know why it doesn't work. Maybe i have forgot to install something. ffmpeg is installed.

THX

EDIT: I have copied some files into /var/music and they work perfect. But the files on the other harddisk (mp3) are not being recogised. I'm running Subsonic as root and also changed the owner and the group of the mp3 directory to root.

/var/music (root:root)
/mnt/disk4/disk4/FLAC/FLAC_KAT1 (root:root)

I tested also a folder in the home directory but it also doesn't work. It only works in /var/music

Do I have to edit a config file somewhere?

THX
