RESOLVED: Error 2032 when sharing albums or songs (4.6b2)

Postby ghadlock » Mon Dec 05, 2011 10:56 pm

Hello everyone- I just upgraded from version 4.2 to 4.6b2, and have been testing out the sharing function. Each time I attempt to share an album, I receive Error 2032 on the generated URL. The media is on a local disk relative to the server, and I've also tried running the Subsonic service (on Win 2003 Server x64 R2) as an Administrator with the same results- any suggestions on how to resolve this error and enable sharing?

Folks-

Here's an attempt to share an album so you can observe the error: http://hadlock.subsonic.org/share/kxgeD

There are no errors in the log- can someone please point me in the right direction to troubleshoot? I have deleted and reinstalled Subsonic, but I have not deleted data yet as I do not want to delete the user accounts in the process.

Do you get the same error when just sharing a single file/track?

Yes, I have the same issue when sharing a single song: http://174.78.184.98:8010/share/TVdJO

Thanks in advance for the help!

I also provided erroneous information earlier- I upgraded directly from 4.2 to 4.6b2, so perhaps one of the earlier versions of Subsonic (e.g. 4.5) made changes to privileges / database / etc that I missed by jumping straight from 4.2 to 4.6b2? Also edited the original post to make corrections.

I have never heard of this problem before in this forum :?
One thing you could try is to delete the jetty cache
Stop SS
Go to c:\subsonic\jetty\xxxx\jsp\org\apache\jsp - Delete everything here
Restart and keep fingers crossed :|
I believe 4.5 did change the search index - Have you updated your search index since upgrading?

OK, tried deleting that cache with no success (same error occurs). I've also reindexed several times and I still get the same error. I see that 4.6 is officially out now, I'll install that, reindex, and try again.

OK, upgraded to 4.6 and the error persists both for individual songs and for entire albums:

Any additional suggestions on what I might try?

One thing that may or may not be applicable, since I'm running on a 64-bit platform, the Subsonic executable is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Subsonic. This has created some issues with other apps looking for the executable in C:\Program Files. Doesn't seem to be applicable since all else works perfectly, but wanted to point this out for consideration.

This is what I see from your link in javascript console
Code: Select all
Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 403 (Streaming is forbidden for user guest)

So it looks like it's a permission problem

hrrrm...thank you. So would that be a privilege issue related to the music library, or to one of the Sonic directories? And do we think it's the SONIC service (I've run it as Administrator with same results) or windows file privileges?

FIXED! Thank you for the guidance- I used javascript console to find the player (589) with the issue, found that player in Subsonic is used by the guest account, then went to account administration and found that "Play media files" was DISABLED for the guest account. I think I did that when I first installed Subsonic a long, long time ago. Renabled the guest account and it's working fine now. Thank you for the direction!

Just to add a detail on the topic.
Running 4.7 beta2 on Ubuntu I encountered the same error with a similar message "Failed to load resource" (but no 403 error)

It turned out that when I was trying to test the link while logged in as admin it didn't work. Testing from another browser where I had no subsonic cookies, it worked like a charm.

I guess this is not normal behaviour so it could be considered as a bug.

I just came across this same error when creating a 'share' so after finding this post realised I had disabled 'play' on my guest account. Thanks for the fix!
