transcoding error

transcoding error

i symlinked both lame and faad to /var/subsonic/transcode but when i try to play an m4a file i get this error.. :(

You could try to force faad to output as raw pcm (remember to tell lame that it's input is raw pcm as well) and see if it helps.

I can confirm this same error. There is something wrong with the lame encoder - as it is not taking the output from faad correctly.

The solution outlined above works, but the files sound terrible - tons of hiss / high frequency noise.

Is there another way? Are there different config settings for faad and lame that would help?

well, it took me some time to get just the right combination, here's what i'm using:

step1: faad -f 2 -w %s
step2: lame -r -b %b - -

well, it took me some time to get just the right combination, here's what i'm using:

step1: faad -f 2 -w %s
step2: lame -r -b %b - -


I finally got it to work without using PCM.

step1: faad -o - %s
step2: lame -h -b %b - -

lame version 3.98.2
faad V2.6

Looks like we have two solutions now. Good news.

Thanks a lot for these two solutions - had been fiddling for ages with the transcoding of my m4a's. No more I guess. :)
