Actually, that did not fix the issue, so it would be good if the developer, Sindre, could look into it.

Please let me know if you need any details to repro.

This is really getting out of control.

I have deleted users, cleared the jetty cache, deleted the players and now playing keeps showing the wrong users.

Is there no more users experiencing this issue?

Has anyone found a way to fix this?

It looks like this must be a programming issue, and it seems to even present some security concerns. Would love to hear some feedback and ideas as to how to resolve this...

Still love subsonic! :)

For anyone who is experiencing this very annoying problem can you just mention how many users you have + the usual OS, SS version etc
And also to post in this thread
Anything to help the devs (Sindre) to track it down.

I have 21 users including guest and admin.

As mentioned in my first post, I am using Windows 7 and the following Subsonic details:

Version 4.5 (build 2385) – August 11, 2011
Server jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_26, Windows 7 (188.7 MB / 290.0 MB)

I can also send additional info if required, but I am not sure what is needed in this case, so any help would be appreciated.

This is happening again. I find that deleting the players under Settings>Players seems to fix the issue temporarily and then we are back to square one...

Any ideas? This seems to be a big security flaw in the coding. Any other users experiencing this?

I'm having a similar problem as described here, its not the users that are incorrect but rather the song being played is incorrect, some songs are not even part of the current playlist. Not much of a big deal compared to my other mystery.

I uninstalled/reinstalled, and even tried to rollback to version 4.5 I've deleted users, deleted players, deleted cache, rebooted, stopped/restarted. Nothing helps.

I've even tried to manually create players, which can only be done via "clone", and that won't work- users continue to use other people's players.

I have noticed something interesting though. When a user is showing up as the wrong user, and that user is logged in, it changes the music they are listening to! So another guy and I have been battling over different albums all morning, and another girl and I have been this afternoon. It's kind of fun, but I would love to know how to stop it.

Another interesting fact- When a user shows up as the wrong person (right now I'm "Melissa" instead of "Tony") that person doesn't have any players in their drop-down list, and they don't have any under settings/players. It's just empty. And I can't find any way to associate a player with that person.

Does anybody have any ideas? I'll try anything.

Apart from a sex change operation

I know this is a really annoying problem and it seems to appear on a "whim"

I second that (although (touch wood) its not affecting me at the moment.)

user "Eric" kept seeing "Dan" in the Now Playing section -- I tried deleting all players, but when Eric played a song after i restarted SS, it would still show as "Dan".

So... I looked at the players and saw which one was "Dan" -- in this case, Player 2 (player 1 was me, the admin). I deleted all the players, restarted SS, then I played a song as myself (admin) which recreated Player 1 correctly.

Then... I logged out of SS and logged back in as "Dan", and played a song. BAM! Just like that, "Dan" was added to the Player list, but as Player 3. SS automatically created Player 2 as "Eric" -- since somehow it had that info stored/cached somewhere.

Indeed when Eric plays a song now, it correctly shows as "Eric". I couldn't say for sure this will always fix it for everyone else, but it's worth a shot.

This fix worked for me also- although I had to do an extra step. Once I deleted all users, I had to log back on for the first time AS the person who is overpowering everybody else. Once I logged in as them first, it created a new player (player2), and showed an old deleted "phantom" player (player1) that was just cached or something. I deleted that initial one (player1) and kept the one that was created when I logged in just then (player2). Then I logged out and one by one logged in as my other 18 users (all from the server itself), and started a song for each (the process described in the post above mine). This caused players to be made for each person. This seems to have fixed the issue (for now?)

The interesting part, however- as soon as somebody logs in from a different computer/IP, it creates yet another play for them, so it's not even using the one the process above created for each person. So I'm not sure how this even helped, but the process seems to have jump started the creation of players- the act that wasn't taking place before, and thus causing this problem (I assume).

Can someobody else try this, and report back with results? It's not a bugfix, but a workaround for now.
