Transcoding stuttering on Google TV

Postby sam1am » Tue Dec 13, 2011 10:49 pm

I wanted a good set top box that would give me access to Subsonic - specifically to the video portion. After much research and waiting around for something good to come out I settled on a Google TV. Subsonic works great on my Android phone and with the initial software on the logitech revue, subsonic worked great through the web interface.

Once I updated to the new software last week (complete with android market) I was excited to find that I could install the subsonic android app right on the Google TV and that it works great. Problem is, the flash player with the update has issues and no longer plays back without constant frame-dropping. It worked fine before the update, but no longer.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone knows enough about the transcoding settings to know if I could tweak something or try something different to get it working a little better. Or if anyone else with a Google TV has had better luck.

Thanks.

Im in the same boat, using the chrome browser before and after the update it stutters all the time. sometimes it will go for a few minutes but then it will stop and buffer or stutter every 10 seconds. pausing to give it time doesnt seem to help at all.

Glad to know someone else out there is experiencing the same thing - if nothing else but to have someone to commiserate with. I've been in touch with a logitech ... tech who admitted there are a bunch of flash problems. I had him log in to my subsonic server and he couldn't even get anything to play without the flash plugin crashing.

If you find any solutions or workarounds let me know. Hopefully someone will have some advice on alternate transcoder settings and I'll investigate on my own as well. In my experience, though, there's about 10 people who can figure out how ffmpeg works. :?

ya ive spent the last hour crawling through the searches and found nothing helpful at all for changing the transcodes. I tried upgrading the jw player (i think i did it right) and no change. I've given up for today :(

This looks interesting: http://www.longtailvideo.com/addons/plu ... ityMonitor

I may try to set this up if I get some time this weekend and see what it shows.

Out of curiosity are you on the Sony or the Logitech or something else? I'm on the revue - I wonder if it's the same on all devices.

What is the result of this issue? I have held back from trying this on GTV - Revue. Is it cleared up now?

Are you accessing through an app or through Chrome? Just curious...

Hope this will work well for my remote streaming. I take this little Revue with me on trips... This would keep me connected to home quite easily.
