Subsonic For ICS Android 4.0

Postby haxzamatic » Tue Dec 13, 2011 9:52 pm

So I just downloaded the Android source from the svn and started making a few edits and now I can't stop. I'll be sharing source when I'm done and I'll post a few beta apk's before then. Let me know what you think? Thanks.

-Built for SDK 14 Ice Cream Sandwich

-Added Fullscreen modes and remove wheat theme

-Full ICS support, Light/Dark Holo Themes

-Redone Icons

-Player Layout

DOWNLOAD - 2-26-2012 Build - http://bit.ly/xcI069

*You must uninstall any other subsonic versions because this uses a different key for signing!

Known Bugs/Todo

-Widgets

-Status Bar Icons

-Force Close when you press album art on 2.3.7 or lower, works fine on 3.0 and up. Fix coming in RC2.

-Need to test on MDPI/LDPI devices

Looks fantastic man. The UI definitely needed an overhaul. Thanks for your time, and also your previous theme work.

very interesting. hopefully this will fix the stuttering issue i'm having with ICS... assuming that it is the app's fault at all, which i'm not entirely sure of.

i'll give it a whirl and let you know what happens.

EDIT:

ok, whatever you did, it seems to do the trick - stuttering is much reduced, if not disappeared entirely. however, i noticed that the player would occasionally randomly stop playing, usually due to some kind of screen interaction.

also, is it possible to make a 4x1 or resizeable widget? the 4x2 widget is needlessly large, i think.

Excellent work, I cannot wait for my phone to receive an ICS custom ROM now! The Android subsonic app was definitely looking tired compared to all the other music apps available.

I agree the widget needs to be redone, I'll do it tonight. Beta-1 is out now with a lot of improvements, this may completely fix your issue. Let me know. Thanks.

hmm, still the same issue. any heavy processing going at the same time, especially anything to do with wifi, will cause the playback to completely stop. at this point, i'm not even sure if it is an issue with subsonic, or the very beta nature of my current ICS rom.

i basically tried streaming a song while downloading a couple of app updates at the same time. playback stopped within a few seconds.

EDIT: one more thing, partially downloaded songs still show up in the play list. They are marked as <song name>.partial.

Just noticed that RC 1 went up. I've changed to the proto cm9 ROM by team hacksung. Should be a lot more stable now. Together with the latest version, skips and stops have virtually disappeared. Excellent job!

I'll let you know if I find any bugs. Btw, would you mind making a new post in addition to editing the OP? My alerts only seem to work for new posts, not edits.

Awesome App! Is there any chance you'll create a lockscreen to go with it too if you get some free time? :P

Guys I made a major screw up! I was using really old source (Version #29) and it seems these bugs were fixed in later versions (Version #46). I'm almost done the new version that uses latest source. I'll post updates in the thread so people will get notified. I also tweaked the UI a bit more. I'll release a RC2 tomorrow some time.

Very cool, and thanks for the update. Don't worry about the screw up. One thing I learned about Android, is that everything is fixable.

Rc1 is working fine most of the time. still need a smaller/resizable widget, and the ability to start playing every song from an artist instead of album only.

Keep up the good work! I really appreciate it.

Looking forward to the update. I picked up the Nexus on Thursday when it was released here in the US, and so far, I've had it totally shut down on me three times while using subsonic in the car. I'm not sure if it was the app or the battery charger or a combination of the two (battery temp while charging is ridiculous).

Curious if anyone else with a the Galaxy Nexus has run into this.

I think it might be the charger, if the battery is getting that hot. Does it do the same when you are not charging? And, does it do the same while charging and NOT using subsonic?
